October 10, 2004 After starting the eliminations in the top spot with a 7.057 ET @ 187.57 MPH. Brown took care of business by defeating Kurt Matte, Craig Treble, and Steve Johnson to reach his third straight final and fifth of the year.
Brown and Savoie ran the quickest side-by-side pass ever in deciding a winner. In the end, it was Savoie with the win 7.018 @ 191.29 mph to earn her 34th career win. Brown's personal-best 7.047 at 184.35 mph just wasn't enough to beat Savoie.
Brown had the quicker light and was still 11 thousandths of a second ahead at the 1,000 foot marker. But then Savoie got by him to get the win. It was Savoie's fifth win at Maple Grove.
