UBDRA Black Sunday Bike Results! The UBDRA’s annual Black Sunday event ran before enthusiastic crowds under sunny skies at Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis.
Big Roderick Mansaw won the Quick Bikes class aboard his Soul Brothers Racing/Casino Queen Suzuki. In his very first race with a whole new Speedtech nitrous system, Kansas Citian Mansaw made a big move from eighth to third in the full field during morning qualifying aboard his Pro Mod bike. Roderick won the final when his quasi-teammate, #1 qualifier and perennial favorite Glen Nickelberry uncharacteristically redlit. “The clutch started to chatter when Glen put it on the 2-step,” reported Nickelberry’s builder/tuner Tommy Bolton, who also lends a hand on Mansaw’s bike. Nickelberry, who slowed out of the 6’s only once all weekend on his Kawasaki Funnybike and held a massive performance advantage over the field, no doubt felt his heart sink as Mansaw’s motor went away and lightly oiled the track in the final.
Aboard his equal mix of show & go ‘Busa, Carl Criswell (also of Kansas City) won the all-Busa, 9.5 second, side-by-side Street ET win over St. Louis streetbike dominator Janie Palm.
Prostar Pro Modder (and former “Devil’s Wind” Funnybike pilot) Darian Guillory, on a Kawasaki Top Gas bike, won Pro Bike over multi-time Gateway track champ Bob Lohr, who was riding a Kawasaki Super Gas bike. Guillory’s .017 bulb delivered a knockout punch that Lohr never recovered from.
No 2-wheeled grudge racers stepped forward with wallets in hand at the track, though the word is that a few stacks traded hands on the St. Louis riverfront Sunday evening.
As Black Sunday ended at sunset, the efficient Gateway staff got the large, happy crowd out of the park and on the streets in record time.
Even though his man Nickelberry lost, Tommy Bolton is all smiles in the Black Sunday winners circle. Bolton also helps tune Roderick Mansaw’s winning mount. Soul Brothers Racing’s Darwin “Mr. B.” Barnett accepts the plaque.

The former track star grew up in Chesterfield, N.J., just two exits down the New Jersey turnpike from Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
Stoffer made him work for it, leaving in .024-second, well ahead of Brown's .077-second launch, but Brown tracked her down and got the victory by one hundredth of a second, posting a 7.169 at 184.55 mph to Stoffer's 7.238 at 186.90 mph.
